With these words ringing in his ears, he sets out to drink and drug himself into a stupor, only to be visited by his younger self and challenged to answer the question: "What is the po...。转业军人高建民奉命率领一批复员军人在北大荒雁窝岛建立农场，被任命为农场党委书记。十八年前，高建民曾在这里从事革命斗争。他到岛上后，遇见了当年牺牲的老战友黄永和的父亲老猎人黄老清，以及曾被高建民救护过的小姑娘黄燕子。在规划垦荒计划时，农场副场长纪庆山凭老经验认为雁窝岛并不具备建立农场的条件，主张先修路后进岛，只能慢慢来。高建民认为事在人为，不能等待有了条件才建农场，他在黄老清的帮助和支持下，带领群众克服种种困难，把建设农场的急需物资和农业机械及时运到岛上，成功地建起一座新的农场 ，播种了第一批农作物，并获得了大丰收。。
